Message June 2010
David also said to Solomon his son, Be strong and courageous, and do the work. Do not be afraid or discouraged, for the LORD God, my God is with you. He will not fail you or forsake you until all the work for the service of the temple of the LORD is finished. 1st chron. 28:20
Dear Parishioners,
I feel honored & privileged to write this first letter to you in the parish bulletin as the youngest secretary in the history of our Parish. The office bearer's election for the year 2010 - 11 was held on 15th march 2010. Let me thank God almighty for giving me along with other office bearers a chance to serve the parish for the fiscal year. It is indeed a recognition to get elected through the ballot to work for the glory of the Kingdom of God.
Let me take this opportunity to congratulate and extend our sincere gratitude to the Vicars, parishioners, former office bearers, kaisthana samathi members, prayer groups, organizations, friends, colleagues and well wishers for their whole hearted support.
I am aware of the responsibility which I have to shoulder as the secretary of prestigious Kuwait Mar Thoma Parish. But what makes me confident in taking this big task is the whole hearted support, guidance and love of the fellow parishioners and above all the grace of our God almighty.
We are commonly termed as Pravasis. The Bible clearly defines who is a pravasi and depicts the sufferings, trials and
humiliations faced by a pravasi. To alleviate these problems to some extent the Governments in India both central and state are
implementing many welfare schemes, Insurance plans and off late special laws. But many a times what is lacking is the sufficient
information and knowledge about these facts. It is true that the main objective of the church is the spiritual growth of its
members. Apart from that some thrust should be given to the general development and welfare of the pravasis, especially our
parishioners. The parish also has some welfare schemes for our deserving members. Let us make more endeavour's to be aware of
the facilities and provisions for the pravasis and to make use of the same.
We believe that there are lot of marthomites in Kuwait who do not have membership in our church. We request our prayer group
office bearers to take initiative to inform us the correct statistics. We would like to update our church membership
details; we request all the members to co-operate and do the needful.
Our Assistant vicar Rev. Raju Thomas and family left from Kuwait
to Homeland on 28th April. We had given a befitting Farewell on
23rd April. Let us pray for Rev. Raju Thomas and family continue
to serve the church in the years to come.
Let us join our hands to love, work, serve and praise together for the kingdom of our lord Jesus Christ during the year 2010-11.
With Prayerful regards
Mathew Varghese
